Various groups perform at McKinley Park in Marion each Sunday evening at 7pm during the summer months. Attendance at the concerts is free, although donations are accepted to offset expenses of the scheduled performers. The exception is the Marion Concert Band, which donates its time and energy for the project. Here is the 2023 schedule:
June 11 Geeze Cats
June 18 Marion Concert Band
June 25 Northside Dixieland Band
July 2 Marionaires & Quintessence Strings
July 9 Marion Concert Band
July 16 Spittin' Image
July 23 Trombones Plus
July 30 United in Harmony
August 6 The Palace Theatre Bog Band
August 13 Marion Concert Band
Please note: the performances DO NOT occur "rain or shine". They are very weather-dependent, as most groups include instruments unsuitable for damp conditions - guitars, woodwinds, electronic keyboards, etc.
If you are considering a donation for the 2023 season, there is still time. Donors are recognized in the printed program distributed at each concert, by announcement during the performance, and by mention here, at our web site. The Marion Concert Band is a registered 501 (C) (3) charity (#34-1492139), making contributions tax deductible.
To be included in the Sponsors listed on the printed flyer that will be posted around Marion in restaurants, churches, and other public locations, the donation commitment needed to be confirmed by April 30th. Donation commitments received after that date will still be listed on the individual printed programs, by announcement during the performances, and by mention on our web site.
Donors are requested to provide contact information as well as level of commitment. Checks should be made out to the Marion Concert Band, and sent to our Director, Bill Swihart at 632 Bordeaux Avenue, Marion, OH 43302, or our Treasurer, Beth Cumbie, at 960 Villandry Drive, Marion, OH 43302. Questions can be directed to Bill Swihart at 740-360-2213.
Thanks to all of you who choose to support the performing arts in Marion.
